Pastor Leon Green leaves us with very a very sober example from the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. The example of Christ in the desert goes far beyond simply quoting the Word of God when tempted. Our text is Luke 4:1-8.

Sermon: Be watchful! Be careful! Be prayerful!
Pastor Leon Green Mark 13:19-23, 32-37
Jesus’ teaching at the temple near the Mount of Olives sets us up for three major events: the destruction of the temple, coming persecutions and the coming of the Son of Man. Pastor Green goes through these portions of scripture to point out commands from Christ and their implications for His elect down to the present age. Who’s your hope in ?
Pastor Leon Green brings a message of conviction and self-examination as he leads us through the demands and costs of discipleship in Matthew 16:21-26.

God uses His word to raise the level of understanding of Him and His ways. Are you around people who encourage your walk in Christ? Pastor Leon Green encourages us in Luke 24:25-35 that we are to fellowship around God’s word, the sacraments, and the community of believers.
Where does your trust and confidence come from? God is still good, even when we do not know what is going on. Pastor Leon Green teaches us in Psalm 23 that as our shepherd, Jesus gives provision, protection, and care for our souls.

In having faith in Jesus Christ, we have the hope of His second coming and living a life that is pure. Are you being watchful and seeking wisdom in His word and in prayer? Pastor Leon Green reminds us in Romans 13:11-14 how our lives are to reflect the hope we have in Christ.
Do we set limits on our brothers and sisters in Christ when it comes to forgiveness? God does not have limits when it comes to forgiving us and Christ is our example in how we relate to others. Pastor Leon Green teaches us in Matthew 18:21-35 the importance of forgiveness to our faith, and reminds us that we are to forgive because Christ forgives us.
God saw the wickedness of man; this evil was towards one another and to God. We can’t hide from God since He knows our hearts and sees everything we do. Setting our hope on Jesus, we have the choice to change and turn from evil. Pastor Leon Green encourages us in Genesis 6: 5-8, learning from the example of Noah- looking to God for our hearts to be transformed and to walk with Him.
There were times in Jesus’ ministry that He wanted to take time to be alone with the Father. Jesus met the needs of His people then as He does now, and we are to be still and not fear. Pastor Leon Green teaches from Matthew 14:22-33 reminding us the importance of spending time with the Lord so that we can walk in faith during times of distraction.
When things are going well in our lives, we serve God faithfully. Do we have the same level of faith, commitment, and trust in the Lord when things aren’t going so well? Pastor Leon Green looks at Job 40:1-8 and reminds us that humility and repentance before God establishes a deeper faith in His will for our lives.
